Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: January 2026

Welcome to Windward Sailing School. By booking a course or stepping onto our boats, you agree to the following terms and conditions. We use simple language here to ensure all our students and sailors easily understand our shared responsibilities.

1. Booking and Payments

All course bookings are confirmed only once a deposit is received. The remaining balance for any course or boat session must be paid in full before you begin your instruction.

  • Deposits are required to secure your spot in a course.
  • Full payment is due at least seven days prior to the course start date.
  • Payments can be made via direct transfer or securely online during the booking process.

2. Cancellations and Weather Policy

Sailing is highly dependent on weather conditions. Windward Sailing School prioritizes the safety of our beginners, advanced students, and instructors above all else.

  • If we must cancel a session due to unsafe weather conditions, you will be offered a rescheduled date or a full refund.
  • If a student cancels a booking more than 14 days before the start date, a full refund is provided.
  • Cancellations made by students within 14 days of the start date are non-refundable, though we will do our absolute best to reschedule your course for a later date.

3. Health and Safety Requirements

All beginners and advanced sailors must adhere to our safety guidelines while on our boats or on the docks.

  • All participants must know how to swim and be comfortable in open water.
  • Life jackets are provided by the school and must be worn at all times while on the boats.
  • Students must follow the explicit instructions of the instructor at all times. Failure to safely follow instructions may result in removal from the course without a refund.

4. Liability and Personal Property

While we take every precaution to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone, sailing carries inherent risks.

Windward Sailing School is not liable for personal injury or loss of personal property while on the premises or aboard our fleet. We strongly recommend leaving valuable items securely stored on shore and obtaining personal liability insurance before participating in our courses.
